Questions and Answers

  • Should I consult with my doctor or physician before scheduling an appointment?

As a general rule, you should always consult with your physician when entering a new form of treatment for any pre-existing condition. Some types of conditions in which you should contact your physician are: chronic recurring pain, high blood pressure, pregnancy, recent trauma, heart conditions, recent surgery or fractures and/or skin conditions.

  • What should I expect from a massage?

You should expect to be treated in a professional manner at all times. Your massage therapist will start by having you fill out a medical form that helps tell the therapist of any recent injuries or ailments. You will also be able to mark diagrams on the form to show where you are having tension/tightness at this time.

You should expect a safe and professional environment, to always be covered except for the area being worked on, complete privacy for undressing and dressing, and to undress to your level of comfort. You will be treated with respect both verbally and non-verbally without judgment and have complete control over the entire session.

  • How do I prepare for a massage therapy session in my home?

Try to allow yourself time to unwind before your therapist arrives at your home. Place your pets in a secure location away from the massage area so that your therapist can concentrate on your massage and not be distracted. Pets can act protective of their owner. If you need to eat, you may want to have a light snack. Always try to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.

  • Is there anything I need to consider telling my therapist before we get started?

Yes. To get the full benefit of your massage, let your therapist know if there are any areas of the body that you want skipped or in which you are ticklish. Example: If you do not like anyone touching your feet, then ask that this area be skipped. This shared knowledge will result in a more relaxing session for both you and your massage therapist.

  • How long will my session last?

A massage therapy session is one hour in length. A 90 minute (1 and ½ hr) massage is also available. This time includes a 5 minute pre-interview, 50 minutes of hands-on time and 5 minutes at the end for you to re-dress.
